I’d just come home from a 2 week
suffering from jet lag. But, I
couldn’t miss my weekly “Tuesday
Visit” with Lorraine, so over to her
house I went. I told her about my
trip and just how surprised I was
to be feeling so tired. She could
obviously see that I was
exhausted, and so she told me to
make myself comfortable on the
couch. She got a blanket and
pillow from the closet and told me
to rest. I was out! When I woke
up, we both laughed and agreed
that now we felt like family!

Volunteer training/orientations must take place Potential volunteers need

able to perform various tasks for a care receiver and also understand the
parameters of the work of the agency. A training session generally lasts
about 1 hour. We review information in a training manual and offer every
opportunity for questions.

After training is complete, the volunteers are matched with a senior or a disabled
adult in their own community. Schedules are based on the volunteer’s
availability and preferences.
